Asia Healthcare Holdings (AHH), a private equity-backed healthcare platform specializing in single specialty care, is in advanced discussions to purchase the Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU), the largest kidney care chain in India. The acquisition is expected to involve AHH acquiring approximately 70% of the hospital chain, valuing it at ₹500-520 crore. The current management will continue to oversee the business following the transaction. O3 Capital is serving as the exclusive advisor for the deal.

AHH, supported by TPG Growth and Singapore’s GIC, currently owns other healthcare networks, including Motherhood Hospitals, a women and child healthcare hospital network; Nova IVF Fertility (NIF), the second-largest fertility chain; and American Oncology Institute. The chain, which has its origins in Hyderabad and was established by a group of doctors in 2013, operates facilities in Secunderabad, Visakhapatnam, Siliguri, and Chennai, with a total capacity of 500 beds. Sources indicate that the chain generated EBITDA of 35 crore and sales of 160 crore in the fiscal year 2022-2023.

AHH‘s spokesman declined to make a remark, but AINU’s representatives could not be reached for comment.

People in India who have diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease are more prone to develop chronic kidney disease (CKD). According to studies, 10-15% of Indians may have CKD, which results in a continuous decline in renal function and health.

Founded in 2016 under the leadership of former Fortis Hospitals CEO Vishal Bali, AHH has invested approximately $300 million in single specialty healthcare enterprises focused on oncology, mother and childcare, and fertility. AHH initially launched in 2016 with the acquisition of Cancer Treatment Services International (CTSI), which operated a facility in Hyderabad, India. In 2019, CTSI was acquired by Varian Medical Systems, which owns 11 cancer hospitals across South Asia.
