Gigi Hadid, the renowned model, faced an arrest in the Cayman Islands for alleged possession of marijuana, as reported by authorities. Alongside her friend, influencer Leah Nicole McCarthy, she was taken into custody on July 10, following a luggage search that resulted in the discovery of a small amount of marijuana. The duo had arrived on a private aircraft from the United States.

Gigi’s representative clarified that the 28-year-old was carrying marijuana legally purchased in New York City with a valid medical license. Moreover, medical use of marijuana has been legal on Grand Cayman since 2017.

Although arrested at Owen Roberts International Airport, both women were released on bail shortly after the incident, as reported by local publication Cayman Marl Road.

Afterward, Gigi and Leah admitted their guilt regarding the accusations and were imposed a fine of around $1,200. Nevertheless, the border authorities did not register any conviction on their records.
