MS Dhoni, renowned as one of the greatest captains in international cricket, marked his 42nd birthday on Friday. Countless wishes poured in from former and current teammates, cricket enthusiasts, and various teams. Although glimpses of Dhoni greeting his fans from his home’s terrace surfaced on social media, the specifics of his birthday celebrations remained a mystery. However, Dhoni has now offered a glimpse into his birthday festivities, expressing gratitude for the warm wishes received. In an Instagram post, he shared a video where he can be seen cutting his birthday cake, surrounded by his beloved pets.

Dhoni’s prowess shines brightest in the One-Day Internationals (ODIs). Having played 350 ODIs, he amassed an impressive total of 10,773 runs with an average of 50.57. His remarkable performance includes 10 centuries and 73 fifties for the Indian cricket team, with his highest score being an unbeaten 183 runs.

Sachin Tendulkar leads the list of India’s best ODI run scorers with 18,426 runs, placing Dhoni sixth. In terms of ODI success, he is now ranked as the 11th most successful player ever. What adds to Dhoni’s impressive statistics is his accomplishment of scoring over 10,000 runs while batting in lower positions, all while maintaining an average above 50.

As a captain, Dhoni led India in 200 ODI matches, out of which the team emerged victorious in 110, faced defeat in 74, and encountered five tied matches. Additionally, 11 matches ended without a result. Dhoni holds a commendable winning percentage of 55. His captaincy led India to triumph in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2013.
